Deadly Aba Bakasi Boys Has Risen Again See Their first Attack In Abia

The residents of Umuahia, the capital of Abia State have been living in fear as one trader was feared killed and six other individuals severely injured, after a clash between traders of the Umuahia Timber Market and the operatives of the Abia State Vigilante Service popularly referred to as the ” Bakassi Boys” . The incident was reported to have occured at Ahiaeke Ndume.

According to the reports that was gathered from eyewitnesses and residents, the police reported that the incident began when the workers of the Abia State Board of Internal Revenue went to the timber market with the aim of collecting an annual levy of #18, 000 from the traders, however, a disagreement ensued between the traders and the levy collectors in the process of collecting the levy from the traders.

Although, it is yet to be fully ascertained what led to the disagreement between the traders and the staffs of the board, investigations is still being carried out to get to the root of the matter, the spokesperson for the state’ s police command who confirmed the incident to the news men, he added that the outcome of the investigation that is being carried out will be relayed to the general public as soon as it is concluded.

Coming back to the main event, while the disagreement between the traders and the levy collectors lasted for a while, it was reported that one of the vigilante groups heard about what was going on and stormed the scene, he was said to have been shooting sporadically as he arrived at the scene of the disagreement, in the process, seven of the traders were hit by stray bullets after which one of them died instantly on the spot while the rest was later taken to the hospital where they are currently being treated.

Meanwhile, the operative of the Vigilante group who shot at the market has been taken into custody as further investigation is still being carried out.
